The bells composition is copper and Pennsylvania paid about 3000 dollars for it.The Liberty Bell was supposed to stay on the steeple on top of Independence Hall. The city the Liberty Bell is and was in  Philadelphia. Do you know that the Liberty Bell has a large crack on the side of it? The last time the Liberty Bell was rung, was for a purpose, George Washington's Birthday. The date of the last rang was February 23, 1846. If you ever look at the front of the Liberty Bell you will see this written on the front "PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT ALL THE LAND UNTO ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF LEV. XXV X".  This quote comes from the Bible. You can find this in Leviticus chapter 25, verse 10. The Liberty Bell is still here and it has a very long history. George Washingtons Myth

The story goes like this:

When Washington was 6 years old he got an ax as a gift. Then Washington cut his fathers Cherry tree with his new ax. When his father saw what happened to his Cherry tree, he asked George about it. George said, "I can not tell a lie I did cut the Cherry tree with my ax". This Story helps people see how honest George Washington was when he did something. That is why people could trust him to become the first president of the United States. The story was written and made up by Mason Locke Weems in 1809.
